Rules
Buy the shot. Earn #1 with real votes.
The duel
- Two comparable products compete in a public duel for a fixed period.
- Visitors vote for the product they would rather use.
- We aim for one valid vote per visitor. Our controls use browser and network signals, so they reduce duplicate voting but cannot guarantee one vote per person.
- Votes we consider automated, duplicated, manipulated or otherwise invalid may be flagged, excluded from the public count, or removed.
- Scores are hidden from a visitor until they have voted.
#1 and the champion
- The first confirmed winner earns the first #1.
- A champion who wins their duel keeps #1.
- A challenger who wins takes #1 and becomes the champion.
- The confirmed champion then defends against the next challenger.
The next fight
- Founders can compete for the right to be the next challenger.
- Bidding starts at $1, and each bid must beat the current highest bid by at least $1. You may bid more. The current minimum is shown on the site.
- The highest valid paid bid when the auction closes earns the next challenger position.
- Equal bids are settled by the earliest successfully completed valid payment.
- The submitted product should be relevant and comparable to the champion. We may reject submissions or bids that are unsuitable, irrelevant, misleading, unlawful, infringing, fraudulent or abusive.
- Paying decides who fights next. It never buys votes, and it never buys #1. Only public votes decide that.
Links to products
- Links to a competing product open in a new tab and carry
?ref=outduel, so the product’s own analytics can attribute the visit to Outduel. - The tag identifies Outduel as the traffic source. It carries no information about you and is not used to track you across sites.
- These links are marked
nofollow. A position in a duel can be paid for, so we do not pass search-ranking credit through them.
Results
- We may review flagged or suspicious votes before confirming a result.
- A result shown before that review is provisional.
- The confirmed result determines champion status on the site.
No affiliation
Outduel is an independent product. Every matchup is unofficial unless we explicitly state otherwise. Featuring, naming or comparing a product does not imply that its makers take part, sponsor, endorse or are affiliated with Outduel.
The opening ShipFast vs Supastarter matchup is an unofficial community exhibition. Neither product or founder is a customer, paid participant, sponsor, partner or endorser. Outduel is not affiliated with or endorsed by ShipFast, Supastarter, Marc Lou or Jonathan Wilke, and is not affiliated with Outbid.
